This post also has good information and especially the 4th section on Kexts. notebook_winxp_32bit_internationalwhql.exe The number for Server's NIC is 5701 which is included in this:

Good luck and I hope this lets you successfully install BootCamp and Windows on your 2010 Mini Servers. My next effort will be to determine the hardware and find drivers to get them operating. If I get those items going I will have a properly functioning copy of XP Pro on the Server's previously unused 2nd 500 gig harddisk. There are a few problems such as sound driver, ethernet driver etc but I think I can get those going by downloading drivers using my Mini Client and transferring them to XP by use of a flash drive. After getting Snow Leopard updated to 10.6.4 and successfully installed on the Server, I ran BootCamp Assistant and was able to install Windows XP from a retail disk, and the BootCamp Drivers from the Mini Client DVD.īoth Snow Leopard and BootCamp with Windows XP are now running and booting on the 2010 Mac Mini Server. I found that necessary in order to install BootCamp on Mini Server.

both show as Master Boot Record.Īlso when Bootcamp Assistant formated the 2nd harddisk did it install the necessary files into root to boot the Windows formatted harddisk?Īs there seem to be rules against posting in a thread except the exact subject, here is a link to how to install Snow Leopard on the unused second 500 gig harddisk on Mini Server. One of the shown disk0 is just one 500gig partition, and the other is showing a 200mb first partition followed by a second 500gig partition. I don't understand why it is showing two disk0 when there is just one disk formatted for Windows showing in Disk Utility. It doesn't show the 1st disk which has the Server Operating System installed on it. Windows installer shows two disk0 to choose from, both showing as Master Boot Record. It did format disk 2 for Windows, but apparently Fat16 because the Windows installer wants to reformat to NTFS. I copied BootCamp Assistant from my 2009 MacMini Client computer to the 2010 Server and it seems to be a free standing application. I am not held responsible for any mistakes or problems that occur.I would like to get input from people having ideas on using BootCamp Assistant on the 2010 Mini Server to install Windows-XP to the unused second harddisk. This will take time and patience to work, you may not be successful for the first couple of tries but keep trying.įor further help visit InsanelyMac or TonyMacX86 To Dual boot simply select press F8 just after the dell logo, and select the os you want to boot.
